Programme

5 Online Circles

The loss of our Mother, particularly as her daughter can disorient our sense of safety and leave us feeling unanchored to the world as we knew it. Although it is a loss that can never be completely healed, it can be held in a loving, non-judgemental, compassionate space.

In this unique exploration, Nici will bring her knowledge of grief work, combined with her own experience of losing her Mum and the realisation that we are laregely wildly unsupported to navigate this loss.

Together we will explore how to hold grief with more awareness and compassion. Nici will guide and support the group throughout. In each circle she will share a little about grief tending, offer a guided meditation, hold the space for sharing and witnessing each other. Nici always closes the circles with some heart nourishment and a gentle sense of soothing.

Some of the themes we will explore include: how to create a sense of safety and home, learning to mother ourselves, cultivating a relationship beyond physical loss, honouring loss through ritual and moving grief through the body.

In one sense, of course, we are never really ‘motherless daughters’. We continue our relationship with our Mothers far beyond their physical loss. It is also important to acknowledge the different ways we can lose our Mothers, which includes but is not limited to the death and passing of the physical form. In previous circles, we’ve welcomed people who are estranged from their Mothers or whose Mothers are physically or mentally unwell. All are welcome.

  • “Joining the Motherless Daughters journey felt like a gentle act of offering kind maternal love to myself. This is one of the most healing, truthful, holding spaces I have ever been part of. It was especially healing to share this journey with others who have lost their mothers. Though we each have our completely unique experiences, we could hear and see ourselves in each other's sharing.”

  • “It took a lot of courage to sign up to this group but I'm so glad that I did. What a rich experience and a great coming together of wonderfully supportive women. Nici both leads and gently participates in the group and I can truly say that as a result, I feel lighter in my grief.”

  • “Working with Nici in the Motherless Daughters Grief Circle was one of the most profoundly nourishing experiences I have had. Nici has an innate gift to hold a group of at first, strangers, and bind them into sisters. It felt as though we were all journeying down the same river- united in courage, empathy, and love.”
